About the Project :

The goal of this project was to shape the visual identity of Zoka café. As a one-person effort, I created a captivating logo, designed menu cards, crafted unique bag designs, and created elegant parchment paper designs. Each element aligned with the café's theme and brand essence, capturing its character and values.
The cohesive visual identity, including color palette, typography, and graphics, ensured a memorable and consistent customer experience. This project aimed to give Zoka café a distinctive brand presence and contribute to its success in a competitive market.

My Role :

As the sole designer and creative mind behind this project, I undertook the responsibility of shaping the visual identity of Zoka café. From concept to execution, I single-handedly designed the logo, created captivating menu cards, crafted unique bag designs, and developed elegant parchment paper designs. I meticulously curated the color palette, selected typography, and incorporated graphics that perfectly aligned with the café's theme and brand essence. Throughout the project, I ensured a consistent and memorable customer experience, striving to give Zoka café a distinctive brand presence in a competitive market.

colors

One of the most crucial aspects of a brand identity system is the color palette, as it not only creates uniformity across the various aspects of the company, it links the brand to a specific color which makes it more memorable and easy to recognize. To reflect the creativity and the skill behind a designer, jade (green) color is used, as it combines the 'happiness', ‘nature’, ‘healthy food’. Which accurately captures the vibe of the café. Jade color is supported by white, not only to create contrast and harmony but also to introduce visual hierarchy.

fonts

The Parka font was carefully chosen to complement the café's serene garden ambiance and capture its vibrant atmosphere. Known for its natural and organic qualities, the flowing curves and gentle strokes evoke calmness and harmony. The font's versatility allows it to seamlessly blend with various design elements while maintaining its distinct personality.
With excellent legibility, Parka font effectively conveys information and enhances the overall brand experience for customers. Its selection harmonizes with the café's ambiance, creating a visually pleasing and engaging brand presence.

Zoka logomark

logomark

The Flower of Life was selected as the logomark for the Zoka project due to its deep symbolism and relevance. This sacred geometric pattern represents harmony, interconnectedness, and the natural patterns found in the universe.
By incorporating the Flower of Life within the "O" of Zoka, the logomark captures attention and conveys unity and balance. It reflects the café's commitment to community, connection, and a harmonious environment.
Additionally, the logomark represents growth, renewal, and the café's focus on fresh and wholesome food. Overall, the Flower of Life logomark serves as a powerful visual representation of Zoka café's values, creating an engaging and memorable brand presence. Its inclusion in the project showcases meticulous attention to detail and the intention to convey a profound and meaningful message through design.

    Design process

In my design process, I typically begin by sketching my initial ideas on pencil and paper, allowing for creative exploration and ideation. However, for the Zoka project, the client expressed a strong desire to retain a vanilla font style for the logo. As a result, I shifted my focus towards exploring various types of Display Serif Stencil fonts, not yet considering the final outcome.

With the client's briefing and the physical café taking shape, I immersed myself in understanding the vibe and essence of Zoka. It was during this process that a moment of inspiration struck. I made a connection between the café's vision and the profound symbolism of the 'Flower of Life,' which represents the fundamental building blocks of life and existence. This symbolism resonated deeply with the concept of Zoka's food, highlighting the nourishing and essential nature of the cuisine served.

By merging these elements together, I arrived at a unique and meaningful design solution that encapsulated the essence of Zoka café. The logomark became a representation of not only the client's vision but also the deeper values and purpose behind the brand.

This design process showcases my ability to adapt and pivot creatively, responding to client preferences and seeking inspiration from diverse sources. It highlights my commitment to finding meaningful connections between concepts and translating them into compelling visual designs.

      The final result

It took me about a week to finalize the end result. The client was satisfied about the final outcome and she also mentioned that the flower of life represents something similar to her grandfather’s 1st company that he founded. I presented the client with 2 variations given below.
